Below is the list of items you will need to connect to the internet within your residence hall. These follow the guidelines from UFIT’s Student Computing Requirements.

Operating System
Windows
- Windows 10 1809 or higher with latest feature updates
- OS versions that are end of life are not supported at UF
Mac
- MacOS 10.13.x or higher with latest software updates
- OS versions that are end of life are not supported at UF
Linux and Unix
- Various distributions will work provided they support 802.1x and are fully patched and updated.
- OS versions that are end of life are not supported at UF
Network
Wired
- A wired Ethernet port is provided to all residents.
- Your computer must have an RJ-45 Ethernet port. On some laptops, you may need to purchase an Ethernet to USB-A/USB-C adapter.
- CAT6 Ethernet Cable
Wireless
- Wireless adapter that supports 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.
- Make sure drivers are fully updated for best experience.
